Ifit's the flex fuel, I wonder if there's a fuel temp sensor integrated into the fuel quality sensor (determines the current gas/ethanol ratio coming from the in-tank pump). As for it being on the in-tank pump, I have no idea how it would pass any measurement back to the ECM. My CAE has a fuel temp measuring value, but I have no reason to
Jef I changed the G83 today - checked and coolant temp was the same on both sensors. I was looking forward to clearing DTC 's and putting this issue to bed. Unfortunately, the code persists. However, today I have noticed that the code comes up instantly, I clear codes directly within the module - scan again and P00B7 is back even

Justwanted to say thank you dhdenney, as I have just replaced Fuel Temp. Sensor - total cost = $25, time spent = 10 min. Short story: 1) got CEL; 2) did VAG-COM scan, result = 000387 - Fuel Temp. Sensor A (G81): Open or Short to Plus - P0183 - 000 - - - Intermittent; 3) went to tdiclub.com, did search on the above terms, found this thread;
Myquestion is where is the temp sensor located as on the ASZ engine as I was trying to trace the cooling lines but could not fine the sensor. ReplacementG89 Outside Temperature Sensor (Audi Part Number 4A0820539A) Phillips screwdriver. 10mm socket, short extension and rachet handle. Wire cutters or snips. Regular pliers. Needle nose pliers. Something like pliers with padded handles. At least one foot of soft wire: 14 — 20 gauge. At least one foot of stiffer wire: 10
Whilenot a big problem, this affected the heating and air conditioning air temperature. I started using a new shop that specializes in Audi's that is fantastic, and found the problem, and replaced the sensor and its wiring. The sensor now works fine in the rain. However the sensor does not work all the time.
